Our story goes a little like this. Matt was a keen home-brewer. He became really good at making beer. Matt won some awards. We (Matt and wife Gemma) began hatching a plan to set up a little brewery in our hometown of Hastings, Hawkes Bay; A town which we love and a town with a lot of potential. We made the move home, after living in Auckland city for close to ten years, and set up in the back shed of our first home. We initially began selling our beer to local bars, restaurants and also attending the local farmers market.
It was here that things began to take off and we began to make many rich connections, establishing ourselves as a leading brewery in our little region. The people came with their flagons, ready to fill each week. Word got out and demand for our beer grew. Before we knew it we'd outgrown our little home garage and we began to seek out a new location for the brewery.
The next step was to move out of the shed and into a new facility. A bigger brew house. Better equipment. An onsite tasting room and cellar door, all located in central Hastings, on the side of town which was already beginning to see a bit of a renaissance. The new premises has really helped in enabling us to become the little neighbourhood brewery which we had always hoped to be. So we are in, and feeling pretty settled. Matt busily produces top notch beer which continues to win a multitude of awards. People come and enjoy beer onsite, straight from the source. They continue to fill their flagons for enjoying at home too. We also supply to most of the regions top bars, restaurants and retailers. And, most importantly, we love what we do.
This is just the beginning of our story. Let's see what happens next.
